Tod Browning’s 1932 film “Freaks” featured real-life sideshow performers. Among them were the Hilton sisters (conjoined twins), Prince Randian (born with nothing but a torso), Schlitzie (a “pinhead”), a bearded lady and many others. The film was considered so disturbing that it was pulled from theatres and not re-released until the 1970’s. A film about betrayal and retribution in the circus. Need we say more?
